Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 607 is a close knit group of about 170 Vietnam Veterans who meets once a month to discuss ways we can be of service to other veterans in our area. Chapter 607 welcomes all our brothers and sisters who served in Vietnam between November 1, 1955 and May 7, 1975 or any duty location between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975 on continuous active duty for purposes other than training. Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is the only national Vietnam Veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era Veterans and their families. The VVA and the subordinate Chapters are tax-exempt organizations under the provisions of the IRS Code Section 501 (c) (19). We began as the Council of Vietnam Veterans in 1978 with the name changing to Vietnam Veterans of America on November 15, 1979. Chapter 607 was incorporated in the State of Alabama on March 19, 1992. The VVA national IRS Group Exemption number is 3202 and the EIN number is 13-2929110. We are incorporated in Alabama as a domestic non-profit corporation. The EIN for Chapter 607 is 63-1055954.

Per the Articles of Incorporation as filed with the State of Alabama on March 3, 1992:
To help foster, encourage and promote the improvement of the condition of the Vietnam Veterans.
To promote physical and cultural improvement, growth and development, self-respect , self-confidence and usefulness of Vietnam-era Veterans and others.
To eliminate discrimination suffered by Vietnam Veterans and to develop channels of communication which will assist Vietnam Veterans to maximize self-realization and enrichment of their lives and enhance life fulfillment.
To assist disabled and needy veterans including, but not limited to Vietnam Veterans, and their dependents and the widows and orphans of deceased Vietnam Veterans.
